Santo Domingo.- Thousands of women from the Fuerza del Pueblo (FP) party held a march this Sunday, which completely filled the route from Enriquillo Park to Independencia Park, demanding that the Government responsibly confront the high cost of living.
“With this civic walk, the women of the village let President Luis Abinader know that the high prices of the products in the family basket, there is no one to support it,” the party said in a statement.
Throughout the journey, thousands of women uttered cries of desperation, where they stated that they were tired of the prevailing insecurity in the country. They assured that they do not feel safe even in their own homes, much less when they go out into the streets.
“The women of the country, and the population in general, feel a high degree of insecurity and uncertainty due to the prevailing climate of insecurity in the country, and worst of all, is the incompetence of the authorities to deal with this situation” said Angie Brooks, head of the Women’s Secretariat of that political organization.
