This Tuesday, thousands of Dominicans crowd the main access roads to the provinces of the country, with the Highway Juan Pablo Duarte heading the list of the most congested.
From early afternoon hours, a kilometer bottleneck of vehicles private and public transportation extends from the National District until the toll that marks the entrance to the region of the Cibao.
The scene reflects the massive mobilization of citizens seeking to say goodbye to the year with their loved ones in the inside of the country.
The increase in the traffic responds, in part, to the schedule labor of many dominicanswho work until noon or even until 3:00 and 5:00 in the afternoon. This provokes that the roads experience high concentration vehicular at peak hours.
“We want to arrive before midnight to have dinner at family and wait together New Year. Although the traffic is chaos, it is worth it,” said Mrs. S.anta Morillo Fernándezwho was traveling with his two children to Cotuí, province Sanchez Ramirez.
Despite the chaos vehicular and the saturation of public transportthe authorities have deployed operational to guarantee the security of the travelers.
The General Directorate of Security of Transit and Land Transport (Digesett) maintains constant patrols in the main roadswhile the Civil defense and the Operations Center of Emergencies (COE) are on alert to respond to any eventuality.

Although he overcrowding on the roads is a challenge, the happiness and expectation to share unique moments in the New Year continue to be the engine that drives this massive mobilization towards the provinces.
