The Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López Hernández, reproached before the Congress of the state of Mexico that political sectors are lying, arguing that the administration headed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador intends to militarize the nation.
Today (this Monday) in the morning the President told me that it is not okay to spread lies, and that the fact that we are militarizing the country remains in the collective imagination. That is why he asked me to continue making these tours of the states, because the government of the Republic has the right to make the truth known. It is not worth that the most precious of institutions continues to be vilified with lies
he told local deputies and Governor Alfredo del Mazo, present at the headquarters of the Mexican legislature.
The federal official reiterated that the constitutional reforms approved by the Congress of the Union to extend the presence of the armed forces in public security tasks does not mean a militarization, and maintained that the nation has evolved, as the Army has done, by which he called a noble institution of peace and support for society.
Del Mazo expressed himself in favor of the reforms to constitutional transitory article 5, so that the armed forces continue in security tasks until 2028. The parliamentary groups of Morena, PVEM, PT and the two independent deputies also expressed their support. Legislators from the PAN and the PRD did not attend.
The only party that openly expressed its rejection of the modification was Movimiento Ciudadano, which only has two legislators in the Congress of the state of Mexico.
Later, López Hernández went to the headquarters of the Mexican Executive Power, where he spoke with mayors and representatives of civil society, to whom he insisted that this is perhaps the last opportunity to regain tranquility in the country, which is why it is essential that the minutes, since the reform clearly establishes how and when the armed forces can intervene and how their actions will be supervised.
In the morning, he went to the Veracruz Congress. The morenista Juan Javier Gómez Cazarín, president of the Political Coordination Board, indicated that the deputies of Morena and their allies our hands will not shake to vote for the reform for the benefit of Mexicans
