The main suspects in the murder of Paula Santana Escalante, the young woman found in a sewer in an industrial warehouse, have been released. They had been in preventive detention since last February.
They are Joaquín Alexander Hidalgo Marte, 38 years old, and Alex Elvin Cruz Díaz, alias “Chuki”, 23 years old, who were in the San Pedro de Macorís penitentiary, after the Permanent Attention Office of Santo Domingo Este, ordered them to remain in provisional detention for three months as a coercive measure.
An audiovisual published on social media shows the moment in which one of the suspects leaves prison, after allegedly not enough evidence was found to indict him.

The incident occurred in the industrial warehouse of the Integer Holdings Corp Free Trade Zone, of Las Américas, in Santo Domingo Este, an event that ended the life of Paula Santana Escalante, a young 23-year-old worker, in an event that shocked the country.
According to initial reports, Santana was found dead on February 22 of this year, around 6:14 in the morning, in one of the sewers of the Integer company, where she worked.
The circumstances of her death raised suspicions of a violent crime, triggering an exhaustive investigation by authorities.
