This Tuesday the hearing was held to bring charges against five alleged criminals involved in the robbery of a jewelry store.
During the hearing, the Prosecutor’s Office charged them with the crimes of aggravated homiciderobbery classified as attempted and illegal possession of firearms to the five captured accused of participating in the violent assault on a jewelry store that occurred on November 29 in the Cabecera Cuarta Etapa Shopping Center in the capital of Santander.
Among the details revealed by the prosecutor handling the case, it was learned that the robbery, which occurred on November 29, was a violent event that generated a shootout between criminals and the police.
During the robbery attempt, jewelry valued at approximately 900 million pesos. The circumstances of the robbery, which included deception tactics by the criminals, have led authorities to thoroughly investigate the criminal structure behind this event.
The prosecutor appointed in the case recounted in detail how each of the members of the band had a specific role. For example, the bell ringers (who inform and alert about the presence of the Police), the leader of the gang, who was killed on the spot, and the people who made the first contact with each of the jewelry workers.

It was also known that a woman and a girl who passed by the front of the jewelry store, both turned to look at the scene, and that is why they turned back in fear, then they ran for shelter and were left in the middle of this crossfire between the metropolitan police and criminals.
Another of the people who arrived at the scene was a security guard who apparently, after realizing the situation, approached the jewelry store where the criminals were carrying out the theft and also ended up in the middle of the confrontation.
Those involved must remain deprived of their liberty in different Bucaramanga metropolitan police stations while the respective investigations progress. In addition, tomorrow a crucial decision will be made in this case.
Those captured face serious charges that could lead to significant penalties if found guilty. The community hopes that justice will act decisively to deter future criminal acts and restore confidence in security institutions.

During the attempted robbery of a jewelry store in the Cuarta Etapa Shopping Center, Victor Manuel Martinez Suarezidentified as the operational head of ‘Los Costeños’, was killed by the authorities.
This event occurred in the midst of an exchange of shots between the criminals and the Police, who responded to the imminent threat.
Martínez Suárez, whose criminal record includes various crimes, was identified as a key figure in the planning and execution of this assault.

The gang’s objective was to steal jewelry valued at approximately 900 million pesosusing deceptive tactics to carry out their criminal plan.
According to the authorities, Martínez Suárez was a high profile criminal in Barranquilla and surrounding municipalities.
In August of last year, he had participated in an assault on a commercial establishment in Soledad Atlántico, along with the ‘Los Flamingos’ gang.
Víctor Manuel Martínez Suárez was killed at the scene while the exchange of gunfire took place, meanwhile the remaining members of the criminal gang were captured at the site and are now deprived of their liberty.
