The 103 men and 12 women arrested during the post-election protests in the state of Anzoátegui and who were charged with inciting hatred and terrorism are being held at the José Antonio Anzoátegui Agricultural Productive Center, known as “Puente Ayala.”
This centre has been criticised in the past for its overcrowding and poor conditions.
Before being taken to the Anzoátegui prison, the inmates were in the Preventive Detention Center of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) located in the Barcelona Shooting Range.
The detainees, as well as their relatives and lawyers, learned of the transfer to this penitentiary facility, which was intervened last October 2023 by the Ministry of the Interior, Justice and Peace, on the same day of the operation.

So far, private lawyers have not been allowed to communicate with any of the detainees, as confirmed by the NGO Foro Penal, which has been documenting these arbitrary arrests and the violation of the rights of the detainees, as also certified by the Venezuelan Prison Observatory.
