Panamanian national team coach Thomas Christiansen and player Harold Cummings tested positive for Covid-19, reported the Panamanian Football Federation (Fepafut).
Christiansen will remain in isolation at the team hotel and has mild symptoms, while Cummings is asymptomatic and is also in isolation.
The defender was a starter with Panama in the friendly against Peru and arrived on home soil on the first trip this Monday at about 10:30 am, in the tests it was negative, however in the morning of this Tuesday it was not So.
According to the Fepafut statement, the “Roja” coach was infected on the return trip from Lima, Peru.
“The Minsa has been duly informed of the positive case of coach Christiansen, who must comply with his respective isolation. We, as we do with all the members of Fepafut, are monitoring the day-to-day of DT. Christiansen would have no problem traveling to San José for the January 27 match against Costa Rica,” said Dr. Paulo Barrera.
Fepafut added that there are no more negative cases in the preparation bubble for the triple qualifying date that the Panamanian team will have to face at the end of January and in February.
Harold Cummings and Thomas Christiansen could test negative in the coming days and would have no problem traveling to Costa Rica, as reported.
