This Friday The Minister of Mines and Energy, Irene Vélez, met with the presidents of associations in the sector such as Andeg, Asocodis, Andesco and Acolgen. This meeting takes place after the minister had already met with the president of Naturgas to give a calm signal after the declarations that gas would be imported from Venezuela if necessary.

In the meeting with the representatives of the unions, they discussed the Government’s plans to speed up the energy transition.

Among the issues that were discussed with the unions of the energy sector, the high energy rates that are being seen in the country were addressed. It was agreed to monitor the increases and the situation of the rates to find solutions.
“From the Government we have heard the concerns of the mayors and citizens in general about the high costs of energy rates in some areas of the country. We are analyzing the processes and ways in which rates are calculated, in order to achieve fair and affordable prices for all Colombians. We will work together with the private sector and local authorities to find a solution to this problem,” said Vélez.

The union leaders showed their support for the government’s intention to make a transition without affecting the security and energy autonomy of the country. “We are going to work together for this just energy transition,” said Natalia Gutiérrez, president of Acolgen.
