The meeting takes place hours after a delegation from the ELN guerrillas and the Government of Colombia announced from that city the resumption of the peace talks.
By the way, Venezuela published a statement ratifying its “firmest commitment” to the process.
“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses its firmest commitment to the total peace process in Colombia and, as the guarantor country in the dialogues between the National Liberation Army (ELN) and the Colombian government, welcomes the agreement to restart the negotiating table”.

The Venezuelan diplomacy stressed that they hope that the dialogues are consolidated to overcome “this long period of conflicts that would strengthen Latin America” as a region of peace.
