Mario Vargas Llosa He died in Lima this Sunday, April 13. Only a few weeks ago, on March 28, he celebrated his 89th birthday with his family. From that special date a photo published by his son Álvaro was registered in which the smiling novelist was seen on a balcony in front of the sea. That was one of the last photograph that all Peruvians could see of the Peruvian Nobel.

On the same date there are three other photos in which Vargas Llosa is celebrating his onomastic with his relatives. In one he meets his three children Álvaro, Gonzalo and Morgana, while in another he appears with his wife Patricia Llosa.

Days before, on March 26, he had also registered with the novelist, who since 2022 lived in Lima after spending several years in Spain since 1990.

“His departure will be sad to his relatives, his friends and his readers around the world, but we hope they find comfort, like us, in the fact that he enjoyed a long, multiple and fruitful life, and leaves behind him a work that will survive him,” they said.

They also appealed to the respect of readers and citizens in general to preserve the privacy they need at this time both and the relatives of the renowned writer.
