President Pedro Castillo gave the night of this Thursday, November 24, a message to the Nation. After 11:30 p.m., the president announced that he will renew the Cabinet after the resignation of Aníbal Torres.
“After this express refusal of confidence with the expression of ‘flat rejection’ and having accepted the resignation of the premier, I will renew the cabinet,” he said.

“The Congress of the Republic has flatly rejected the request for confidence requested by the president of the Council of Ministers that expressed itself in repealing Law 31399, a law that snatched and prevents the right of all citizens to political participation of directly and without intermediaries through the referendum. Laws such as the return of Fonavi or the non-re-election of congressmen would not be a reality if the people had not decided it through a referendum”, the president stated.
On the other hand, he attacked Parliament and called on those who promote the vacancy.
“This law in a contrary way has taken away our right to exercise it again. We as a government wanted to give back to all Peruvians this right that certain politicians in the current Congress have decided to reject. It is also necessary to exhort those from Congress who continue to insist on vacancy with false denunciations and accusations such as treason against the homeland,” added Castillo.
“I call on Congress to respect the rule of law, the right of the people, democracy and the balance of powers. Reconsider, congressmen, because the great desires of the people cannot be truncated by excessive interests of some minorities ”, he maintained.
