They will carry out sit-ins in at least 18 cities. They reject the decision of the Constitutional Court.
Colombia News.
There are different religious institutions that have called and summoned to demonstrate against the decision of the Constitutional Court on abortion in Colombia.
One of these organizations is the Rivers of Life Christian Church. From there the initiative was called “Let me be born”.
- “The Colombian people, which is the primary constituent, expresses its deep
outrage at the pronouncement of the Constitutional Court where it announced to the country
Sentence C-055 of 2022 with which it violated the principle of res judicata and
decriminalized abortion up to 6 months of gestation, in addition to enabling it under
the 3 causes already established throughout the pregnancy », initially published in the call.
They add that the majority of Colombians do not accept that 4 magistrates and 1 associate judge
impose a death sentence on the country”, which according to what they have stated, “destroys their present and their future, by condemning the most defenseless and innocent beings, our unborn babies, to infanticide.”
In the document called ‘Manifesto for the Defense of Life’ they express their concern about the decision of the Constitutional Court.
Arguing that it is “again exceeding its functions within the Social and Democratic State of Law by suppressing, in an illegitimate manner, the legislative function of the Congress of the Republic, which has repeatedly denied abortion, to establish a supposed right that threatens life of unborn children in Colombia, thus replacing the Political Constitution where it is established in article 11 that the right to life is inviolable.
