At 16:15, at the facilities of the Bolivian Society of Engineers (SIB), the Cruceñidad Assembly began, in which the 2024 Population and Housing Census will be analyzed and forest fires in the department.
The call was launched by the Pro Santa Cruz Civic Committee and, with the exception of politicians, everyone else was urged to attend.
The president of the Civic Committee, Fernando Larach, was the first speaker. During his speech he again described ‘armed robbery’ to the Census and made a count of the fires recorded in the department.
“This statistical genocide is not against Santa Cruz, it is a lethal blow to thousands of Bolivian families who work and fight every day to generate progress and development. That is why we must build ties with other peoples who have been scammed like ours, the alliance with them will be a bulwark to prove the scam.“, Larach shot back.
For the civic group, the exclusion also threatens the future of new Santa Cruz residents, many of whom were born in the last 12 years have been eliminated by this fraudulent census. For the national government, a large part of those born between 2012 and 2024 simply do not exist.
Larach explained that “We have said that this was an ‘armed robbery’. And so it was, a statistical fraud was set up and mounted to steal a large part of the country’s population. And since this census fraud was staged, it responds to a strategic policy of the central government. In recent days, municipal and departmental governments have been ordered to submit their budgets adjusted to the data of this census, having to adapt them to the budgetary “ceilings.”
He added that “If the autonomous governments do not deliver it within the peremptory deadlines, they will be left without resources and their accounts will be frozen. In this way, as an immediate follow-up to the census fraud, an additional trap is imposed so that the autonomous entities are implicitly forced to recognise the results of the census, under threat of being left without resources and with their accounts frozen, with all that this implies.”
It is in this situation that the civic leader stressed that “This assembly must give clear answers that show us the way forward. “Unity and the search for the greater good are the recipe for taking this path,” he said at the meeting. The conclusions are expected in the next few hours.
