In Colombia there is again expectation for a new attempt at dialogue with the National Liberation Army, ELN, as on other occasions, that negotiation table is set up outside the country, which will be in Caracas, Venezuela.
“One of the biggest bets of the current government that seeks a negotiated solution to the armed conflict with its so-called “Total Peace” is configured, says the international press.
This attempt to reach peace with the second largest guerrilla in Colombia after the extinct FARC -today partly in dissidents- began with former president Juan Manuel Santos (2010-2018), but could not continue with the government of Iván Duque (2018-2022) after the deadly terrorist attack at the police school.
The Duque government requested an end to the kidnapping and terrorist actions by the ELN, but that guerrilla refused to release the hostages and requested an end to the actions of the public force.
It is expected that this Monday the government of Gustavo Petro will be able to reveal all the data of its negotiators, one of them already known, Felix Lafouire, president of Fedegan.
