Starting this Monday at the Federal Legislative Palace, the First Meeting of Young Parliamentarians from Venezuela, Brazil and Colombia for Peace and Integration of Our America will take place.
The delegations, which are already in the country, participated this Sunday in the march for National Youth Day to commemorate the 209th anniversary of the Battle of La Victoria in 1814.
It is expected that the installation of the youth meeting will be in charge of the president of the National Assembly (AN), deputy Jorge Rodríguez, who will be accompanied by the directive of the Parliament, the first vice president and the second vice president of the Legislature, deputies Pedro Infante and América Perez.
This event responds to an initiative of the youth of Venezuela, mainly of the parliamentary youth that -as the act of its formation says- is called by conviction and by constitutional mandate to promote peaceful cooperation between nations and promote and consolidate integration Latin America in accordance with the principle of non-intervention and self-determination of peoples and the universal and indivisible guarantee of human rights, refers to a press release from the Venezuelan parliament.
It is also planned that, after 1:00 in the afternoon, the young parliamentarians will meet at work tables to exchange ideas and debate proposals. In this sense, they will be divided to address four major subjects:
1.- Border Peace Table: there they will debate the political, social and parliamentary mechanisms that preserve peace on the borders and the integration of peoples as a fundamental strategy in the face of the escalation of fascism, racism, discrimination and violence in Latin America.
2.- Youth Parliamentary Agenda Table: where there will be a debate to promote lines of work among youth parliamentarians from Venezuela, Brazil and Colombia, within the framework of the restitution of diplomatic, economic and political relations.
3.- Amazon Roundtable: Climate change and mitigation of global warming will be discussed, these are imperative issues at present, for this reason the main axis of this roundtable is framed in the preservation of the human species, biological diversity and the ecosystems.
4.- Table for Gender Equality: proposes the exchange of parliamentary experiences that govern equality, the role of women and sex-diverse communities in Latin American countries, participation of young people in parliaments and intergenerational dialogue in the region.
