He was in prison, where he decided to give a new course to his life, and today he works supporting young people in resocialization processes.

News Colombia.

Alfonso Forero, known in the criminal world as alias ‘Gonzo’, was for years of the criminal band ‘Los Pokemones’ in Bogotá. His name came to public light after telephone interceptions were heard how coordinated robberies in the capital. In one of those conversations, which went viral on social networks, he starred in a dialogue that many still remember.

“From a gonzo, he left. I know it with a” – “no, but the Chinese is missing a little little one” – “And what happens Gonzo, we are stealing,” is heard in the recording.

That audio, which generated a wave of comments and memes on the Internet, exposed the coldness with which these criminal structures acted, but also showed a gesture that some interpreted as a feature of humanity.

Today, several years later, Forero’s life is another. In a video published by the Freedom and Life Foundation, a different man is seen, with a very different message from the one who once led him to be pointed out throughout the country.

«Do you remember alias Gonzo? Well, he has been working all this time, supporting young people to resocialize through sport. Together with the Libertad y Vida Foundation, he has worked tirelessly to provide new opportunities and a better future. The change is possible and Gonzo is demonstrating it! ”He wrote the foundation in his publication.

In the same material, Forero appears speaking in the first person about that decision that changed his course: “They know me here in Colombia for having belonged to the criminal band ‘Los Pokemones’. When I was in prison I decided to take the path of good and change my life, ”he said.

Forero says that for four years he has been working in the hands of the Libertad y Vida Foundation, a process that describes as “the greatest support in the process of integration to society.” Today he dedicates his time to accompanying young people at risk, using sport as a tool for transformation and hope.

The story quickly called attention on social networks, although this time for a positive reason. Many users applauded the change of direction he took.

“Gonzo very well, you can always be better!” He wrote an Internet user. Another commented: “Congratulations on your change, sometimes we are victims of the needs and inequality we live.” There were even those who remembered the famous audio: “Well, Gonzo’s audio showed that he still had some humanity and made him easier to reconstruct his way.”

The history of aka Gonzo becomes an example of how it is possible to leave behind a past marked by crime and bet on resocialization. His case shows that, with support and decision, life can take a turn to good and serve as inspiration for others looking for a second chance.
