A total lunar eclipse will be visible in the Venezuelan sky on the night of this Sunday, May 15. It’s about a astronomical event which will begin at 9:32 PM and will reach its maximum stage at 12:11 AM on Monday the 16th.
Although no special equipment is required, the use of a telescope will allow you to better appreciate the details of this lunar eclipse. Dark environments guarantee a better condition for observation.
It should be noted that clouds and rains could prevent it from being seen in some parts of the country. This eclipse will also be seen in much of America and in parts of Europe and Africa.
According to what Nasa reports on its portal in Spanish, this type of eclipse occurs with the full Moon, which is when the satellite is on the opposite side of the Earth from the Sun.
For this reason, the face of the Moon is completely illuminated by the star king in this phase. Due to the inclination of the Moon’s orbit (about 5 degrees relative to Earth’s), it normally avoids the planet’s shadow.
In this type of lunar eclipse, like the one that will occur on May 15, an alignment between the Sun, the Earth and the Moon is produced, causing the latter to enter the darkest part of the Earth’s shadow, called umbra, so it acquires a reddish hue.
