Colombia is the most biodiverse country in the world and the data supports it. The national territory has more than 56,000 species, 311 continental and marine ecosystems, 2.9 million hectares of moors.

To celebrate this wide variety, Seguros Sura launched a version of the national anthem performed by different species of animals, including birds, amphibians and even a jaguar. The piece also includes the sound environment of ecosystems that extend from natural reserves in the Llanos Orientales to the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

As explained by the company, the development of the project included the participation of different biologists and biodiversity experts, who were in charge of identifying and selecting the places and species that were part of the recording. Their role was also key to avoiding any type of impact on the chosen ecosystems.

The musician Miguel de Narváez was also part of the campaign. The artist was in charge of leading the integration of the sounds of nature with the musical structure of the anthem.

In conversation with ‘Blu Radio’, Narváez highlighted that the composition captured sounds of “more than 41 birds, three species of amphibians, frogs, a jaguar, and also a whale in the Pacific with an incredible sound. We also include nature sounds such as the wind, the sea and the rain.”

So that the sounds could match the tonalities of the anthem, the musician explained that at first all possible ambient noise was recorded and then the fragments that fit best were selected.

The song was released as a prelude to COP16 that will take place in the city of Cali from October 21 to November 1.
