Eleven brigades participated in competitions designed to strengthen the city’s disaster response.
News Colombia.
In Cúcuta, a day full of adrenaline, teamwork and emergency maneuvers brought together dozens of brigade members who are ready every day to respond to any eventuality. Competitions with live fire, simulated rescues and pressure tests marked a meeting that sought something more than a simple contest: to consolidate the best first response teams in the municipality.
The Mayor’s Office of Cúcuta, through the Disaster Risk Management Secretariat, confirmed that the First Municipal Meeting of Brigade Members was held, a scenario created to strengthen the technical, operational and articulation capacities among those who respond to emergencies in the city.

Cúcuta bets on more prepared brigade members with intense tests
In total, more than 132 competitors distributed across 11 brigades of companies, institutions and local entities participated in tests that measured their reaction capacity. The activities included demanding exercises such as Fire Prevention and Control, where brigade members demonstrated the use of fire extinguishers, and Jet Ball, a competition that tested precision and coordination in the use of high-pressure hoses to move a balloon with water jets.

The day also included the simulation of Search and Rescue of Victims, a key exercise in which participants had to locate, access and evacuate people at risk applying rescue and first aid techniques. According to the municipal administration, these dynamics allow performance to be measured in situations that resemble real emergencies.
This first meeting, the organizers pointed out, has the purpose of strengthening inter-institutional coordination, promoting collaborative learning and consolidating a highly trained municipal network of brigade members, capable of providing faster, safer and more effective responses to any emergency in the city.
