In order to organize public space and encourage the use of mass transportation, the District Mobility Secretariat launched the pilot program for paid parking areas in Bogotá on Tuesday.

This initiative allows drivers to park at a certain point on the road in exchange for a charge for a specified time.

With the first 1,000 places, initially these areas will be located in the Chicó Norte sector, in the town of Chapinero, between 76 and 94 streets; and between the Autopista Norte and Carrera 11. New areas will be gradually incorporated in different parts of the capital in order to achieve 13,000 parking spaces by the end of 2022.
These zones will be operated by the Bogotá Transportation Terminal, which currently provides mobility solutions for Bogotá through the efficient administration of 28 parking lots in the capital.
To recognize them, the paid parking areas will be demarcated with white squares on the ground and will also have an informative sign showing the hours and rates of the service.
Regarding the latter, the schedule is understood, at least initially, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., while on Saturdays it will have a running schedule between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm Outside these hours and both on Sundays and holidays, the zones will not generate any charge and citizens will be able to park without extra consequences.
Now, speaking of charging, it is important to note that this is done in fractions of 30 minutes and in advance. The rate varies according to the length of stay and the type of vehicle.
Cars will pay a fee $ 3,000 per fraction if your stay does not exceed 2 hours, which if done, will pay $ 4,600 for a fraction of 30 minutes. For motorcycles, the rate is $ 2,100 for a fraction of half an hour if it does not exceed 2 hours. If you do, the rate will be $ 3,200 per half hour fraction.
Payment can be made through the Payment Parking Zone app that the user must download to the cell phone, or directly in cash with the duly identified facilitator who is in charge of the parking spaces.
As it is a pilot pedagogy plan, for the next two weeks the charge will not be available.
The resources collected will be used for the Tariff Stabilization Fund of the city’s Integrated Public Transportation System, as well as for the maintenance of the road network in the areas where the project operates and the implementation of new Payment Parking Zones.
