Along about 500 meters on Paseo de la Reforma, residents of the capital and visitors gathered to spend the last night of 2024 with the presentation that began at 10:00 p.m.
There was a pause to count down that marked the arrival of 2025.
“Friends of Mexico City, a round of applause for Polymarchs! Welcome to the largest nightclub in the world, here on Paseo de la Reforma,” said the Head of Government, Clara Brugada.
After midnight, the music continued until around 2:00 a.m. on January 1st.
With dancers, screens, lights and music, the group Polymarchs – founded by Apolinar Silva – led the New Year’s Eve concert in Mexico City for the first time.
The band has a long history, emerging in the 70s as a sound band that, instead of opting for tropical music, promoted high energy, which originated in the same decade in the United States during the heyday of disco music.
