More than 25,000 inhabitants participate in the election day to elect a new mayor.
The election day in Villeta (Cundinamarca), where the atypical mayoral election takes place. Starting at 8:00 in the morning, all voting stations opened their doors so that eligible citizens can exercise their right to vote.
A total of 25,202 people are registered to participate in this election, of which 12,496 are women and 12,706 are men. Voters will be able to go to the points designated by the National Registry of Civil Status, the entity in charge of the organization and development of the process.

10 voting stations were installed throughout the municipality, distributed among five in the municipal seat, one in the prison center and four in the townships. In total, they arranged 70 voting stations to receive citizens during the day.
At the three largest voting points —La Valencia School, Sena and Policarpa Salavarrieta Urban Concentration— A biometric authentication system is implemented in order to validate the identity of voters and guarantee the transparency of the process.
A group of 511 voting jurors participate in the day. Of them, 420 are incumbents and 91 are remnants, who were previously trained to fulfill their duties during the election.
Their work includes verifying the identity of voters, fill out the corresponding forms and count the votes at the close of the day.
The National Registry indicated that all the electoral infrastructure is in operation, and the positions were installed in accordance with the established protocols. to guarantee the normal development of the democratic day.

In this way, the community of Villeta participates this Sunday in an extraordinary electoral process, with the expectation of defining who will occupy the Mayor’s Office of the municipality after the call for an atypical election decreed for this November 9, 2025.
