Evolution of the minimum wage in the last 10 years:

In the year 2023, The minimum wage was 1,160,000, with an increase of 16%. It was established by consensus.

How was the 2025 minimum wage established?
By means of a decree, President Gustavo Petro established an increase of $123,500 in the minimum wage which, in this way, as of January 1, will reach $1,423,500. In addition, the transportation subsidy will have an increase of $38,000 and will go to $200,000, from the $162,000 that currently applies.
Therefore, the legal minimum wage in force for the year 2025 in Colombia will total $1,623,500 with transportation assistance included.
The minimum wage is equivalent to the monthly income that, according to the Substantive Labor Code of Colombia, an employee must receive as a base throughout the territory.

This figure represents a matter of great interest at the national level, since it will influence the finances of a large part of Colombians, both workers and businessmen, in addition to impacting the general economy of the country.
The new increase directly benefits more than 2.2 million workers in Colombia who receive basic remuneration, a figure that represents close to 10% of the people employed in the country.
Let us remember that the minimum wage that governs in 2024 was also established by the President of the Republic through a decree due to the lack of consensus in the tripartite negotiation commission.
