In a recent space for dialogue in the department of Caquetá, Álvaro Uribe Vélez was asked if his political party would endorse demobilized FARC candidates for the regional elections, and the answer surprised many.
This was what the former president said, “if there is a demobilized member of the FARC who has rebuilt his life and who wants to participate in these activities and wants the endorsement of the Democratic Center, give him that endorsement.”
In turn, Uribe stressed that “this is a democratic party with humanist principles that nobody forgets about that.”
Several political sectors, especially the Democratic Center, were surprised by the most recent announcement by former President Uribe, who stated that his party can receive demobilized FARC members who want to run for political office.

Opinions ‘divided’ in the Democratic Center
Apparently, for the Centro Democrático political party, what Álvaro Uribe exposed was not a surprise.
