This Friday the XXVIII Ibero-American Summit begins in Santo Domingo

This Friday, dignitaries from various nations continue to arrive in the capital of the Dominican Republic to participate in the work sessions of the XXVIII Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government that opens tonight.

On Thursday, the Presidency of the Dominican Republic reported “We receive the Ibero-American countries to celebrate the XXVIII Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, where issues of interest will be addressed and cooperation opportunities will be generated in favor of our peoples.”

The program for this Friday contemplates the meeting of Ibero-American Foreign Ministers of the 22 member countries of this space for consultation, at the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry, Telesur reports.

In this sense, according to the Official account of the XXVIII Summit Ibero-American Heads of State and Government, the Foreign Minister of Bolivia, Rogelio Mayta, arrived this Friday in the Dominican capital; from Nicaragua, Denis Moncada; and the Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves. On Thursday, the Venezuelan foreign minister, Yván Gil, arrived in Santo Domingo, who held a bilateral meeting with his Brazilian counterpart.

Also, on Thursday, the presidents of Portugal arrived, Marcelo Rebelo De Sousa; from Honduras, Xiomara Castro Sarmiento; from Uruguay, Luis Lacalle Pou; from Chile, Gabriel Boric; and also the King of Spain, Felipe VI.

This Friday is also scheduled the XVI Ibero-American Business Meeting that began on Thursday at the Sansouci Convention Center, with the presence of some 1,500 businessmen, whose motto is “Together for a fair Ibero-America.”

Prior to the Summit

The meetings prior to the XXVIII Ibero-American Summit of heads of State and Government began on Wednesday. Since then, meetings of the National Coordinators and Cooperation Managers have been held, whose objective is collaboration and exchanges that exist within the region.

According to the organizers of the Summit, the presence of 14 presidents, two vice presidents, two prime ministers and 22 foreign ministers is expected, who will adopt important instruments aimed at guaranteeing the development of the region.
