Former President Donald Trump addressed supporters at his luxury golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, hours after appearing in court on federal charges Tuesday, June 13.
Calling the charge against him “a political persecution, something straight out of a fascist or communist nation,” he accused President Biden of arresting him on “false and fabricated charges” and added that “this day will go down in infamy.”
He claimed that he had “every right to have these documents” under the Presidential Records Act. “The espionage law is used to prosecute traitors and spies, it has nothing to do with a former president legally keeping his own documents.”
“A corrupt sitting president has had his main political opponent arrested on trumped-up and fabricated charges, of which he and many other presidents would be guilty, right in the middle of a presidential election in which he is losing widely,” he declared.
He went on to attack the current president, reiterating that he “will be remembered not only as the most corrupt president” in the United States, but also for trying to “destroy democracy” alongside “a gang of thugs, misfits and Marxists.”
In addition, he insisted on his innocence, that he “complied with the law” and that “Biden and his corrupt ‘Injustice Department’ believe they are above the law.”
“Hillary Clinton broke the law and was not charged. Joe Biden broke the law, and we’re finding out in many ways, and so far he hasn’t been charged. I did everything right and they charged me,” Trump continued.
He alluded to the alleged persecution he has been subjected to for the past seven years by “the same politicized agencies” that “have conducted illegal psychological warfare campaigns against the American people.”
“If the communists have their way, it won’t stop with me. They will not hesitate to increase their persecution of Christians, pro-life activists, parents who attend school board meetings, and even future Republican candidates. We must end it permanently, and we must end it immediately,” he said.
