AREQUIPA, Peru – Cuba begins what could be one of the coldest weeks of the current season, marked by the drop in temperatures, the arrival of a new winter front and a mass of air that will cover the Island.
“During the first hours of next Tuesday, a cold front will arrive in the western region of Cuba, causing some probability of rain but in an isolated manner since it will practically dissipate in its southern portion,” predicted meteorologist Raydel. Ruisanchez on Facebook.
According to the expert, followed by the front, a very cold air mass will begin to influence the entire Cuban territory, causing temperatures to drop. For that reason, the coldest days are expected to be Wednesday and Thursday.
Ruisanchez announced that low temperature values are expected, with winter days and very cold mornings. “We could even be recording the lowest values so far this winter season. Without a doubt a week where we cannot miss the coat,” he highlighted.
For his part, meteorologist Bryam Pérez Valdés reported on social networks that the Indio Hatuey station, in Matanzas, recorded a temperature of 9.0 °C this Sunday at dawn.
The beginning of the week was marked by low temperatures in several regions of the Island, including Santo Domingo, in Villa Clara, with 11.0 °C; Bainoa, in Mayabeque, with 11.2 °C; and Aguada de Pasajeros, in Cienfuegos, with 11.4 °C. In Artemisa, Bauta reported a minimum of 11.8 °C, while Güines, in Mayabeque, reached 12.2 °C.
Regarding the forecast for the night of this January 5 and early hours of Monday, the Institute of Meteorology (INSMET) of Cuba estimated that the minimum temperatures in the early morning will be between 12 and 15 °C in localities in the interior of the west and center, while they will register between 16 and 19 °C in the rest of the country.
In the afternoon the maximum temperatures will be between 25 and 28 degrees Celsius, higher in the south east.
