Authorities predict that three more houses, apart from the last to collapse, are at risk. President Lasso regretted that the collapses continue.

During the morning of this Saturday, December 18, 2021, the collapse of a third home in the center of Zaruma, El Oro province, as a consequence of the damage caused by the illegal mining in the subsoil of that city.

Through his Twitter account, the President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso, regretted that the landslides continue; but he assured that work continues on measures to solve the current crisis.

The Risk Management authorities assured that the evacuation of families continues; and it is expected that as soon as possible the Army Corps of Engineers will begin to operate to find exits to target the terrain in the area in some way.

In addition, it was pointed out that a fourth house was seriously affected by the last collapse. Part of the main infrastructure walls collapsed. (JS)
