Graciela Bianchi was the victim of a robbery in front of her home: criminals on a motorcycle snatched her wallet and mobile phone. The senator of the National Party, Graciela Bianchisuffered an assault on Tuesday night in front of his house in Prado, as sources from the Ministry of the Interior confirmed to El Observador.
According to information from El País, around 8:00 p.m., the senator was at the entrance to her home, located on the corner of the Millán Avenue and Reyes Streetwhen two individuals on a motorcycle approached her.
The assailants struggled with Bianchi and managed to take his wallet and cell phone before quickly escaping the scene.
Fortunately, the legislator did not suffer serious injuries in the robbery, only some minor blows to one arm due to the struggle, which did not require emergency medical attention, as detailed by the Ministry of the Interior. The Police are searching for those responsible for the crime but there is still no information.
Mieres was also assaulted
The former Minister of Labor and leader of the Independent Party, Pablo Mieres, was also assaulted last month. Mieres was approached by criminals in front of his house, where they stole his cell phone. He had praised the government’s statements about declining crime.
The assault on Mieres occurred on the night of Wednesday, November 20, in the Malvín neighborhood, Montevideo, just at the end of a campaign closing event for the Republican Coalition in Parque Batlle, when he was returning home. Two criminals attacked him violently while he was at the entrance to his house.
The theft was quick and surprising; The criminals, armed with a knife, threatened Mieres, demanding that he hand over his belongings. Finally, they managed to steal his cell phone before fleeing. The Police were alerted to the incident and went to the scene to carry out the relevant investigations and prepare a report on what happened.
