Chelsea’s Brazilian defender Thiago Silva said he would like his “super friend” Neymar joins the London club, if the rumors of the departure of the striker from Paris Saint Germain materialize.
“He has to go to Chelsea if he leaves” PSGthe 37-year-old defender said on Tuesday, answering a question about his former French club teammate, during an event in Recife, in northeastern Brazil.
“Neymar is a guy who doesn’t need comments, because of his quality, because of his performance. And besides, he’s a super friend.” added with a smile the former captain of the Parisian club, where he played eight seasons, three of them with “Ney”.
“I hope this comes to fruition. do not stay alone in this news. So far, I don’t know anything,” she pointed out.
Neymar, 30, extended his contract with PSG in 2021 until 2025, but exit rumors have gained strength from the statements of the club’s president, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, in an interview with the French newspaper Le Parisien.
“We don’t want flashy, ‘bling-bling’ anymore; it’s the end of brilliance,” he said, alluding to the often-criticized lifestyle of Neymar, who in 2017 was the most expensive signing in history for 222 million euros from FC Barcelona.
The last season was the least prolific for Neymar since playing in European football, with a total of 13 goals and 8 assists in 28 games in all competitions with PSG.
