After the match, the Brazilian stated that the fact of playing at home, with the support of the fans, can be a differential against the Germans: “It is very important [contar com o apoio da torcida]. It transmits a lot of energy. I like to play in that atmosphere. But, at the same time, it is very important to show good energy on the court, to have posture, to call the crowd at the right times, and to be able to use this to your advantage. […] No doubt it will be important tomorrow. still on the court [ao final do jogo] I invited everyone to make a lot of noise. We will have a very important day. So that help is essential.”
Monteiro’s triumph was fundamental for Brazil, which managed to recover after the defeat in the debut of Thiago Wild, by 2 sets to 0 (partials of 6/4 and 6/2), to Alexander Zverev. Thus, there will be at least one more singles match after the doubles match between Brazilians Bruno Soares and Felipe Meligeni and Germans Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz, which starts next Saturday (5th) at 2 pm Brasilia).
The expectation is that Brazil will return, at least, to overcome the first phase of the Davis Cup World Group, which has not happened since 2001.
