The São Paulo Court of Justice confirmed the acquittal of businessman Thiago Brennand in a case judged at the 2nd Court of Porto Feliz. The defendant has remained in prison since 2023 and the case is being processed in court secrecy.
Brennand faces nine criminal cases for assaults, violence against women and rapes, and was convicted in five other cases judged in the first instance, in addition to reaching extrajudicial agreements in two others. A case, in the 30th Criminal Court of the capital, has not yet been judged.
The businessman’s last conviction occurred in September, in another rape case, for crimes committed repeatedly between 2015 and 2016 in Jardim Europa, an upscale neighborhood in the capital of São Paulo. According to the records, after a first consensual relationship, Brennand threatened and assaulted the victim to make her perform intimate acts, without a condom, when he infected the woman with a sexually transmitted disease. There were also indirect threats to the victim’s daughter, showing her a firearm. He also threatened to release images of intimate relations with the victim.
