They work to eradicate gender violence in the country

According to INEGI data, seven out of 10 women in the country have suffered some type of violenceand information about the National Network of Refuges reveals that every hour a woman asks a shelter for help because she is experiencing a violent situation, away from home, the information is not encouraging, since 75% of the cases of rape and sexual harassment occur on the street and on public transport, of agree with Inwomen.

Given the above scenario, the feminist organization Seed Fund works to build fairer, freer and happier realities for women and their environments throughout the country through the donation of resources to more than 150 women’s organizations, networks and collectives, so that the movements in which they participate with in order to sustain life from equality and justice.

As a feminist organization we believe in the transformative power for girls, young women and organized women to transform the reality they live”, commented Tania Turner, Executive Director of Fondo Semillas.

The organization recently launched its annual campaign #TogetherFloreWe will be with the objective of raising funds and addressing the violence experienced by women in Mexico.

“The important thing about this campaign, and where we will be focusing, is on the support strategies offered by the organizations we finance to help women identify and get out of the situation of violence they are experiencing. We have called it #JuntasFloreSeremos because we know how crucial collective accompaniment and support groups among women are,” she added.

From Fondo Semillas they consider that the first obstacle a woman who experiences violence faces is being able to identify it, become aware of the problem, because many times it normalizes and it is believed that women have to put up with the situation they are going through.

The organizations supported by Fondo Semillas offer accompaniment to be able to identify it, as well as psycho-emotional support, workshops for economic autonomy, spaces to empower themselves and feel more secure, among other strategies so that they can get out of violence and heal.

With the campaign #JuntasFloreSeremos, whose goal is 450,000 pesosFondo Semillas will be able to finance two more organizations that accompany women who experience violence so that they can become stronger and heal.

“Each year Fondo Semillas supports and finances 160 organizations that work for gender equality in Mexico, directly benefiting nearly half a million girls, women, and trans* and intersex people in 2021. In addition to positively impacting more than 1.5 million additional people during 2021,” he pointed out…

Throughout its 32 years of existence, Fondo Semillas has supported 1,292 organizations, to learn more about the campaign you can visit the following page.
