More than 400 rural youth from all over the country will be trained on the use of drones in agricultural activity, during different sessions organized by the Technical Secretary of the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA) and the National Rural Youth Program (Pronajur).
The seminar began this Friday, February 3, at Finca Caprina, El Espinal de Guararé in the province of Los Santos, with 33 rural youth leaders and technicians from the agricultural sector.
MIDA Technical Secretary Roy Frías reported that this year, together with Pronajur, they seek to train young people in the country in the use of technology and that they, as technical secretary, manage the agricultural extension system and one of their main functions is technology transfer and knowing that drones have different benefits for agricultural development, they promote this training workshop.
Frías explained that with drones land measurements can be made, crop evaluations of water in the soil, health, different characteristics of the plant and know if the crops are healthy, productive, it is also one of the most advanced technologies. own for the benefit of the environment since it does not have carbon emissions, it works with batteries in some cases that are recharged from the sun, the investment cost is not so high and its use has a long life.
He added that it has been seen that the use of the drone for the agricultural area achieves a great benefit for the sector and that it is already known of producers who use it in the rice activity, which has triggered productivity of between 100 and 115 quintals. per hectare to more than 140 quintals per hectare making applications with drones, sowing so that they want to transfer that experience to young people so that they adopt it, take it home with their parents and be replicators of it.
The director of Pronajur Youssef Sayad said that there will be coverage of young people from the 11 regions of the country starting this Friday, February 3, until covering the Eastern Darién and the East Panama area, ending in the month of May, which will be the last in the different provinces with young ladies and gentlemen who participate in both the agricultural and livestock areas.
Additionally, he stated that they are working together with the Environmental Unit to promote the agroclimatic bulletin that is available in this dry season, since this training is part of the actions of the water harvesting plan with one of the actors, who is the youth. rural.
As a central speaker there will be Isaac Leonel Gordon, who is part of a consortium of private companies with experience.
The Regional Director, Eric Ballesteros, participated in the training activity carried out in Los Santos, among other authorities of the sector.
