The Dominican Republic will be the stage in which leaders, businessmen and civil servants will discuss experiences and situations around social and economic issues that mark the world’s agenda, in moments of convulsion due to imbalance in economic growth, situations in the health sector and the recent financial crisis in the United States, which has affected other economies.
the agenda of XIV Ibero-American Business Meetingwhich will be held between the 23rd and 24th of this current month, at the Sansouci Convention Center, has the approach of the main sectors that affect development:
- Energy and energy transition
- Connectivity and digital transformation
- Innovation and sustainability
The first day will begin with a transversal axis in the private sector: the gender equalitywhich will be treated in two panels, with which it seeks to create synergy between the public and private sectors to discuss new and old inequalities in the sector.
With the announcement of the massive meeting, in which the assistance of more than 1,000 local and international businessmen, the expectations of what is going to be raised in the panels and alternate meetings grow. About 100 papers are calculated.
Theme transitions
In addition to investment, leaders will evaluate their efforts to achieve a sustainable energy transitionbased on studies carried out by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), which cites in one of them that, in terms of the investment effort relative to the size of the economy, Latin America and the Caribbean will need to allocate more resources in infrastructure: least 3.12% of its gross domestic product (GDP) every year until 2030.
In tourism, it is proposed to address the need to provide the tourism sector with a character more innovative and sustainablebut also accessible and inclusive, factors that are increasingly valued when traveling.
Keys of the meeting
The XIV Business Meeting is part of the Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government which this year is also based in Santo Domingo, being the only official meeting of the summit.
In that order, the National Council of Private Enterprise (conep) highlighted that the scenario is conducive to exposing concerns, needs and desires from companies directly to political leaders.
