Mexico City, Mexico.-Rescue operations at the Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Power Plant are expected to resume today, after the arrival of more advanced machinery in Matanzas. The motorized team arrived at the Antenas de Cuba, coming from Havana and would allow strategic drilling in the chimney.

“The Lt. Colonel William González Hernández, head of the Civil Defense of the Military Region of Matanzas, informed that the strategy to complete the rescue of the fourth worker consists of opening three holes in the walls of the chimney, designed to evacuate residues, which would allow drainage with agility of rubble and soot”, he indicated in his social networks journalist José Miguel Solís, who has continued to cover the incident.
In statements to the journalist, the expert indicated “that heavy equipment with a rotating scythe is used, similar to the one used in the Saratoga hotel in the capital, which makes it easier to undertake the work with absolute safety.”
“Meanwhile, the safety and cleanliness conditions have already been created in the three areas to work, in such a way that the rescue can be completed in the shortest possible time,” Solís said.
Ángel Dionis Pérez Montolla, the first worker rescued in Matanzas, in conversation with the official press recounted the anguish he experienced after the collapse.
“It’s like being buried alive, it’s like being stuck in a hole and thrown up the ground, or worse. He started to scream and I screamed, and I realized that when he screamed the dust came in, and I said: ‘I can’t lose the air I have here. I have to calm down, at least I’m alive, I haven’t died, ”he said.
