They will remove more than 100 police officers linked to criminal gangs after ATTACK in Trujillo

After the explosion of a powerful explosive in the front of the Prosecutor’s Office of Trujillothe head of the PCM, Gustavo Adrianzén, the Ministers of the Interior and Defense, as well as Congressman Diego Bazán traveled to the ‘City of Eternal Spring’ to attend to the emergency, which left the population in panic and anxiety.

As the afternoon fell, the aforementioned authorities, together with the regional governor of La Libertad, César Acuña, held a conference in which they made some announcements, among them, the change of more than 100 police officers was determined.

Adrianzén began the conference by regretting the injuries of the Public Ministry security agent, José Luis Arteaga Soria, 52, and the taxi driver Luis Alberto Rodríguez Inga, 39, who was in the area when the explosion occurred. “Both have been discharged from the respective hospitals where they were treated,” he explained.

THERE WILL BE NO CURFEW

The Chief of Staff put an end to rumors of a possible curfew to confront the crime that has taken over the entire La Libertad region.

“In relation to the curfew request, we do not rule out any measure that will be necessary and to do so we will listen to the police authorities and our Armed Forces and if the recommendation is that we declare a curfew, we will do so without hesitation. For now , that measure is not going to be adopted,” he warned.

PROPERTIES WILL BE EVALUATED BY ENGINEER AND THERE WILL BE BONUS FOR REPAIRS

The president of the Council of Ministers announced that specialists from the Ministry of Housing will examine the damage suffered by more than 10 properties due to the explosion. In addition, he offered a bonus to repair the infrastructure.

“I want to announce that I have contacted the Minister of Housing, Construction and Sanitation so that we can immediately proceed to register the families whose homes have been affected as a result of the shock wave,” he said.

He added that “engineers will verify each property to establish what damages have been suffered and help the affected families through vouchers.”

PCM HEAD ASKED CONGRESS TO REVIEW URBAN TERRORISM PROJECT

At another time, he asked the Legislative to review the bill sent by the Executive on urban terrorism.

“The government of Peru is committed to ending this wave of crime. We from the Executive at the time sent to Congress a bill to severely toughen the penalties for the crimes of hitmen, kidnapping and extortion and we were creating the figure of urban terrorism. Unfortunately, this project has not yet been accepted by Congress and we are going to insist that it be so,” he emphasized.

He added that “those who remember what happened in the 80s have surely remembered those events when they have seen what happened at the headquarters of the Public Ministry. Criminals who use dynamite and spread terror in society are terrorist criminals and must be treated as such and with absolute severity. “We have defeated Sendero Luminoso and MRTA and do not doubt that we will do the same with the terrorists who today intend to threaten the population and put the Peruvian State in check.”

MORE THAN 100 POLICE OFFICERS LINKED TO ORGANIZED CRIME WILL BE REMOVED

The Minister of the Interior, Juan José Santiváñez, announced that they will remove more than 100 agents who have some connection with criminals and announced the following decisions:

“First, the immediate removal of more than 100 PNP troops, who leave Trujillo, Depincri and Intelligence troops and who will be executed in the coming days. 100 new troops will be sent,” he said.

He stated that “the personnel who will be changed are those who have disciplinary references of being linked to criminal organizations under any circumstances. I want to warn that personnel who do not respect the change, disciplinary proceedings will be initiated to discharge them immediately,” he emphasized.

The second measure proclaimed was “the sending by this Friday, at most, of the first 10 agents of the General Directorate of Intelligence of the Minister so that 10 more agents will later be added, who will be in charge of supervising the actions of operational and strategic intelligence in Trujillo to counteract this criminal wave.

The third point was “the immediate sending of 100 operational troops who are already trained in the parade ground and who join the troops who are already here and who are going to carry out strategic and operational tasks in high-impact areas. They have attacked the State and the State will have an immediate and forceful response.”

WHO WAS THE TARGET OF THE ATTACK ON THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE?

Likewise, he promised to provide protection to judges and prosecutors: “I want to announce security to the judges and prosecutors who are in charge of prosecuting these criminal organizations,” he said.

He also attributed this act to revenge for the actions against the gangs: “It is an act that is a consequence of the actions that the PNP and the Public Ministry have been carrying out over the last 15 days in Trujillo,” he remarked.

He specified that the target of the attack was the president of the Board of Provincial Prosecutors of La Libertad, Jennifer Ludeña Meléndez.

“Today an explosive device was left in the facilities of the Public Ministry, specifically, to intimidate the work of prosecutor Ludeña, who is soon in charge of supporting an extension of preventive detention against a criminal organization called ‘Los Compadres’. The leader of the organization, known as ‘Pequeño’, has taken responsibility for this criminal action, even sending a defiant message that is already in the hands of the authorities,” he said.

“What the Ministry of the Interior has done together with the Judiciary is to raid the cell of this alleged criminal. At the time of the raid, not only cell phone chargers were found, a cell phone was found that has been sealed and will be subjected to an expert report to determine its relationship with the threatening messages to the prosecutor,” he said.

On this issue, the head of the PCM, Gustavo Adrianzén, indicated: “The threatening message that the prosecutor receives and then communicates occurs a couple of hours after the attack against her occurred. “It says the threat of this terrorist criminal who knows where his relatives are and other phrases,” he revealed.

“In relation to this criminal, his cell in the Cajamarca prison has been searched and sufficient elements have been found for his immediate transfer to the Challapalca prison to be adopted,” he reported.

MORE AGENTS OF THE ARMED FORCES WILL ARRIVE IN TRUJILLO

For his part, the Minister of Defense, Walter Astudillo, spoke of redoubling security with the presence of personnel from the Armed Forces.

“The roles that our Armed Forces fulfill are clearly stipulated in the Constitution and one of them is to participate in the maintenance of internal order, which is why in this meeting An agreement has been made to double the presence of members of the Armed Forces in Trujillo, including special forces that will contribute to guaranteeing the security of critical national assets in full coordination with General Llerena who will present the corresponding plans that establish what the participation of the Armed Forces will consist of,” he said.
