This past weekend was one of the most violent for the officials of the El Pino Hospital in San Bernardo, since nine people wounded by gunshots arrived nearby.
Given this, the Undersecretary for Crime Prevention, Maria Jose Gomez In coordination with the workers of the hospital complex, Carabineros, the Ministry of Health (Minsal), union leaders and the Municipality of San Bernardo held a meeting where they announced the measures to repeal the episodes of violence.
“After coordination with Carabineros de Chile, at El Pino Hospital, a police car is committed outside the compound and an extra police officer inside. Undersecretary María José Gómez also announces a review of security measures and recalls an anonymous complaint at www.denunciaseguro.cl” , indicated the Undersecretariat through its official channels.
Among the announced measures is an increase in the number of Police inside the enclosure, the installation of remote surveillance cameras, perimeter closure, lighting, double-leaf doors, access control and a patrol outside.
“We are not going to normalize this type of situation. We are going to raise our voices, we are going to unite those of us who believe that things can improve (…) intersectoral work is essential. We are grateful that Police, the Undersecretary for Crime Prevention and other authorities are here, because that is how we are building teams to face what is coming later,” said the Mayor of San Bernardo, Christopher White.
From the hospital officials, Patrick Torresexpressed that “we really wanted to carry out this meeting. I think it was quite useful, because we reached some agreements.”
