The National Electoral Institute (INE) has received 90 electoral lawsuits related to the reform of the Judicial Branch. By their nature, matters are received and registered and then sent to the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (TEPJF).

Information from the INE indicates that 25 were filed by Judiciary workers; 62 per citizens; two for political parties, and one for civil association.

They are all JDC, that is, trials for the protection of citizens’ rights, whose resolution will correspond to the TEPJF, a body that last Wednesday said that it is constitutionally unfeasible for the INE to suspend the development of the election of judges.

The TEPJF must respond to the 90 JDCs in question, while 284 requests for protection against the judicial reform are resolved, of which three have so far won definitive suspension.

On the other hand, in an analysis of the legal direction of the INE it is highlighted that the institute, before said constitutional order, must prepare the election of judges, carry out the calculations, publish the results, deliver the certificates of majority to the winning candidates and declare the validity of the election.

For this purpose, it may issue the agreements it deems appropriate for the organization, development, counting, surveillance and supervision of next year’s electoral process.
