Authorities of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, the General Secretariat of the Andean Community (CAN) and the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF) presented the Andean Community Interoperability Platform (Intercom), which will promote the facilitation of foreign trade in the subregion.
Through this system, the secure electronic exchange of documents used in foreign trade operations in the Andean Community is allowed.
In the first stage, five key documents for intra-community foreign trade will be processed electronically: certificate of origin, phytosanitary certificate, Andean declaration of value, customs declaration of goods and mandatory health notification.
The Secretary General of the Andean Community, Ambassador Gonzalo Gutiérrez, recognized the work of the technical teams of the Member Countries that have deployed multiple coordination to make it a reality.
“This is the result of the collaboration of more than 20 entities and nearly 200 officials from the four Andean countries, who worked on the harmonization of processes, overcoming technical barriers and building a common digital infrastructure that reinforces mutual trust and regional transparency,” he noted.
In turn, the Vice Minister of Foreign Trade of Ecuador, Alexi Alcívar, representing the Pro Tempore Presidency of the Andean Community, stated that this mechanism is a step towards mutual trust.
