The mason Jorge Julio López, survivor of the last dictatorship and disappeared on September 18, 2006 after testifying against the convicted genocide Miguel Osvaldo Etchecolatz, will have a bust in the health unit of the La Plata neighborhood where he lived and fought.

The bust will be placed next June 28, coinciding with that day in 2006, when López declared in the trial that he was continuing against Etchecolatz and provided essential testimony to achieve the conviction of the former police chief as a genocide.
López was able to identify the repressor as the one who participated in the operation in which he was kidnapped at the end of October 1976, along with other Peronist militants from a basic unit in Los Hornos, and as one of those who tortured him and other detainees in the clandestine center of Arana.
On September 18, 2006, López left his home, in Los Hornos, to go to the Golden Room of the Platense Municipality where the trial was taking place and the final arguments were to be heard that day, but he never arrived at the municipal building.
One of Jorge Julio López’s sons, Rubén, who yesterday, during the national census day, made his father’s absence visible by placing a sign on the door of his home where it could be read: “According to the title page of the case, ‘Alleged forced disappearance’. A man would have to live here!”
“It is recognition for his commitment, especially for what he said was his civic duty when he went to testify,” Rubén López told Télam.
And he maintained that “a few days after that date where my old man declared, it is a way to continue demanding justice and placing the bust in the UPA is an act of justice.”
