The investigation will be carried out bythe territorial security delegate and the human rights directorate“, indicated the accusing entity.
A video of the woman, identified as Esperanza Castro, went viral on social networks for her offenses against the vice president when she was interviewed on the steps of the National Capitol, during the demonstration of thousands of citizens against the political and economic reforms of President Gustavo Petro.
“And that ape, who because he put a million votes is considered the ‘berraca’ (best) of the walk, poor ape, the apes ruling“, he said in reference to Márquez and his participation in the last presidential elections as Petro’s running mate.

When asked who she was referring to with her expletives, the woman replied: “To Francia Márquez, he is an ape. What education can a Negro have? The statements of hate were condemned by different sectors, starting with Petro himself, who published the video and compared it to the rise of Nazism in Germany.

“This racist hatred is irrational, that is, it is far from all rational human knowledge. But with him they do politics. With him they condemned in 1933 all humanity to a disaster“said the president.

Even, former presidential candidate Enrique Gómez Martínez, one of the promoters of the opposition protests on Monday, criticized the position of the woman and said that “you cannot agree with racist demonstrations against anyone“.

“The massive marches cannot be overshadowed by a character who undertakes it in a vulgar and violent manner against Francia Márquez. It is not and it will not be. Complete rejection of such expressions“said Gómez Martínez, of the National Salvation movement.
The vice president, who has not commented on this incident, has been a victim of “structural racism” that exists in Colombian society and even during the last presidential campaign was subject to insults because of the color of their skin.
