Within the framework of a political control debate that took place in the Bucaramanga Council regarding the situation of the requested liquidation of the Integrated Transport System, Metrolínea, Several councilors presented a proposal to integrate an extra-legal body that defines an action plan on the current situation in the metropolitan area.
After the concept issued by the Superintendence of Transportation, the management of Metrolínea ignored its liquidation. Situation for which councilor Carlos Parra requested to integrate a Metropolitan Council to discuss the situation.
“People are tired of the disarticulation in the metropolitan area, we have not achieved compromise on different metropolitan issues. Each Council and Mayors have a different position and thus it is impossible to advance”, he argued during his intervention in the debate.
He stated that, even with extralegal mechanisms, it is necessary to put all the actors in agreement and especially to the office of the Metropolitan Area of Bucaramanga which “has been absolutely insufficient”, declared the Councilor.
“I welcome the position of councilor Carlos Parra, here there must be the massive and active participation of the 4 councils that make up the area”added the manager of Metrolínea, Yolima Blanco Espinel.

So far, the proposal is unprecedented in the metropolitan area and It would be the first time that a space of this nature is integrated.
However, was unanimously approved by the Bucaramanga Council, in order to delegate a commission with the purpose of leading the integration of this discussion body, and define what the restructuring of the Massive System would be like, or failing that, the liquidation, which according to finance specialists can take years.
