A project that seeks to create and put into operation a Municipal Operation Center for the District of San Miguelito, with 600 video surveillance cameras, was analyzed this Saturday, February 12, during a meeting in which the Minister of Public Security, Juan Manuel Pino, participated. ; the director of the National Police, John Dornheim; the Mayor, Héctor Valdés Carrasquilla, security forces and representatives of the Municipal Council.
This is one of the most important projects to be developed in terms of public security in 2022, with the establishment of this video surveillance center, whose effectiveness in combating crime has been proven in similar facilities that operate in Chiriquí, Panama. West, Colón and in the center of the city.
The Minister of Public Security, Juan Manuel Pino, highlighted the importance of establishing this video surveillance center, since this is a sector with a high population density, through comprehensive work carried out by the Joint Task Force and the authorities of the Municipality of San Miguelito. .
“Video surveillance has been effective as an instrument that helps detect criminals before they commit criminal acts. Where these cameras are already installed, the preventive results show the effectiveness of this technological tool,” Pino explained.
For the director of the National Police, John Dornheim, this center will help the operational and preventive part that takes place in San Miguelito, using technology as a work tool and as an ally in the fight against crime, improving the reaction capacity of police units in the prevention of criminal acts.
For his part, the Mayor of San Miguelito, Héctor Carrasquilla, described the creation of the center as “a positive project”, which seeks to give “greater security to the citizens of San Miguelito”, also highlighting his full support for the establishment of this center in the district.
It is expected that, on March 18, the construction of this project will begin, which will have its headquarters in the vicinity where the Municipal Council of San Miguelito currently operates.
