Teachers, relatives and students of the Nuevo Horizonte school in the city of Buenos Aires will hug the establishment next Monday “in defense of access to inclusive education” and “of the jobs of teachers and non-teachers,” reported the community school educational.
The action will take place Monday, February 13 at 9:00 a.m. at the educational center located at Calle Matheu 1472, in the San Cristóbal neighborhood, where around 90 teachers and non-teachers worked, and some 450 students attended the initial, primary and secondary levels, 50 of them with disabilities.
“In defense of access to inclusive education for all children and adolescents” and “in defense of jobs for teachers and non-teachers” are the demands of the community.
Families and school staff, including some authorities, received last Monday the telephone notification of the closure of the place from March 1 by the owners and his legal representative.
The high school rector of Nuevo Horizonte, Ramón Benítez, informed Télam that the Buenos Aires Ministry of Education “never communicated and did not appear in person” after learning of the closure.
Meanwhile, some teachers and family members will hold a meeting with the UTE-Ctera union to assess the situation and “see what alternatives” arise.
