They will hold the third fair ``Consume lo Nuestro``

The National Confederation of Agricultural Producers (Confenagro) and different government entities announced that this weekend the third edition of the “Merkagro Fair” will take place.Consume ours” to the park of the Italia Urbanization in Villa Faro, Santo Domingo Este, where they will sell agricultural and household products at affordable prices.

The Merkagro takes place every 15 days in a different park with the support of the Special Fund for Agricultural Development (FEDA), Inespre, Promipyme, Comedores Economicos, Supérate, Inaguja and the City Hall of Santo Domingo Este.

According to the statement, consumers will have the opportunity to buy rice, beans, bananas, cassava, sweet potatoes, potatoes, vegetables (lettuce, carrots, cucumbers and others), honey, chicken, eggs, milk, garlic, onion, peppers and fruits.

The fair has been held continuously in various points of the great Santo Domingo, where the products of the basic basket are exhibited, which also includes manufactured products, handicrafts, dairy products and sausages, among others.

The opening ceremony was led by the director of the FEDAHecmilio Galván, and Andrés Pérez, operational director of Confenagro, who highlighted the importance of the commercial event because it contributes to lowering the prices of products in the family basket.

Andrés Pérez, operational director of Confenagro, said that this fair is an inter-institutional cooperation to ensure the success of the exhibitors.

Andrés Pérez specified that Merkagro will be held at a national level with more than 40 fairs, to bring products at low prices and the culture of consuming what is ours will be created permanently.

”Here in Santo Domingo Este, Merkagro, is a festival of marketing at low prices to favor producers and the large population of the municipality, which has given a favorable response to the motto ”Consume ours”.

For his part, Galván said that this fair is a way to support the agricultural sector so that they produce continuously, knowing that their products will have a safe market and that the population will acquire them at a good price.

The official assured that this way of promoting marketing at fairs is a contribution from the government of President Luis Abinader, who is interested in food products reaching the Dominican family at low prices, which counteracts the high prices.

“As a country, we were able to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic and it is certain that we will come out of this second crisis of high prices and inflation by having a president, Abinader, who is concerned about moving the country forward that is powerful and safe,” said Galván.

He added that the potential of agricultural and agro-industrial productivity is being demonstrated as seen in this exhibition at the fair.

Personalities from the province participated in the event, including Juan Padilla, coordinator of the Presidency of the Republic, Omar Contreras, representing the Minister Dr. Geanilda Vásquez, and agricultural producers from different parts of the country.
