The councilor for Unidad Cívica Solidaridad (UCS) Maykol Negrette reported that, from the first day of classes, on February 1, it was ordered by the municipal Executive to deliver a food benefit plan students, according to a technical report issued by the Ministry of Health.
The councilor’s response is given before the questions from parents of different educational units, which denounced non-compliance in the delivery of school breakfast from the first day of school.
In an interview with EL DEBER, Negrette explained that, according to the technical report of the municipal health secretary in coordination with the Education Directorate, they determined deliver all “food benefits” to students in three stages.
These stages are: deworming; delivery of the ‘Vela tacú’, which is a nutritional supplement with Omega 3 and 6 for digestion, and school breakfast or complementary school feeding.
The first stage is being applied since the first week of February, while the delivery of the ‘Vela tacú’ will take place in the second week; the delivery of school breakfast It will take place from Monday, February 13.
“That is not defined by the councilors, but by the Executive. I asked for a report before the questions of the citizens of why they were not being delivered (the school breakfast) from day one. I ask for the report and the Secretary of Health tells me that the secretariat nutritionists They saw the start of executing this plan”, Negrette affirmed to this journalistic house.
He pointed out that this report was prepared by the Ministry of Health through the medical brigades displaced last year in the educational units, in which they observed that several boys and girls presented pictures of malnutrition and poor diet.
The councilor assured that the budget for the delivery of the 55 school breakfast products is guaranteed; he recalled that this “benefit” It was expanded to the secondary level in this management.
“In the government plan of the UCS we have stipulated that we had to triage the students when starting classes, because there are many of them who enter with malnutrition and some with diseases. We see all of this as a solution,” he said.
