NEW YORK.- The Association of United Winemakers of America (UBA), led by the merchant Radhamés Rodríguez, reported that as of this week its members will begin collecting tons of various products to be sent to the Dominican Republic for the victims of the Hurricane Fiona.
“In addition to the winemakers belonging to the entity, we intend to seek donations from other sectors of the community, of non-perishable food such as canned milk, rice, beans, flour, bottled water, canned meat, oil, cereals, pampers, mosquito nets, and blankets, among others,” he said.
The collection center will be at the UBA premises, located at 783 E. 163rd Street in the Bronx, with telephone number 929-300-3180, and as on other occasions, donations will be received there from 2:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m.
Rodríguez indicated that since there are several collection centers receiving aid to be sent to the victims in the Caribbean country, he urges other sectors to join, because there is a biblical proverb that says, “don’t get tired of doing good, because he who gives without expecting anything in return, everything he sows will one day reap in abundance.”
He recalled that according to data provided by the Emergency Operations Center (COE), there are thousands of displaced people between the provinces of La Altagracia, La Romana, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, María Trinidad Sánchez, Duarte and Samaná, among others.
