The 28th edition of the Fiesta de la Cubanía will open its doors in Bayamo from October 17 to 20 with a program that includes around two hundred activities and various academic and artistic proposals.
The event, in which every year intellectuals, researchers, artists and creators meet with the purpose of preserving Cuban identity roots and representing the different manifestations of art and literature, this time proposes to extend several of its spaces to about a hundred of communities.
The provincial director of Culture in the province, Yordan Roberto León Rodríguez, stated at a press conference that this edition, although it will maintain its center in the capital, will be extended to all the municipalities of Granma through digital platforms.
He also announced that renowned personalities such as historian Olga Portuondo will participate, and that the theoretical event Crucible of Cuban Nationality will be held with the presentation of more than fifty papers and about 80 participants.
There will also be a forum-debate on raciality, culture and identity.
Photographic and painting exhibitions, sale of handicrafts, poetry readings, cinematographic shows, dances, dance, humorous and theatrical presentations, and children’s activities, are also part of the Cubanía program.
It will close on October 20, Cuban Culture Day, with the commemoration of the singing of the National Anthem for the first time on its 154th anniversary.
