They will analyze the new mining agenda and its impact on the development of Peru

The Symposium – XVI International Meeting of Miningorganized by the National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy (SNMPE), is consolidated as the main meeting point for the private sector to analyze the challenges and opportunities faced by Peruvian mining. In a global context marked by political and economic volatility, this event reaffirms its relevance as a key space to outline the national mining agenda and its contribution to the sustainable development of the country.

The study presented by the FEPCMAC shows that the “drop by drop” informal loan already mobilizes more than S/ 4,000 million.

Through an open and constructive debate, this event connects the mining industry with the present and future of Peru, promoting innovation, development, competitiveness and dialogue between various actors in the economy.

With the motto “Mining that integrates, builds the present, transforms the future”, the role of formal and responsible mining is highlighted as an essential driver of national development. This meeting highlights how mining can generate synergies with sectors such as agriculture, tourism, infrastructure and commerce, promoting a more diversified and inclusive economy.

“Peru is today a global protagonist. We have critical minerals, such as copper, that the world needs for the energy transition and new technologies. This is a unique opportunity to position ourselves before the world and show how formal, responsible and sustainable mining can be an active part of the solutions that Peru needs,” said Diego Ortega, president of the organization.

The international meeting will be held from May 26 to 28, 2026 and will bring together representatives from the industry, regions, academia, banking and the international community. Throughout its sessions, topics of investment, sustainability, innovation, governance and inclusion will be addressed, with the participation of global leaders, who will provide an international perspective on the trends, challenges and opportunities that will contribute to defining the new Peruvian mining agenda.

This event, which is held every two years, has established itself as a high-level dialogue platform that sets the tone for cutting-edge and relevant discussions for the industry, reaffirming the role of mining as an engine of development and how the sector that makes up the country can contribute to the energy and economic future of the world.
